Today I watched the documentary ‘Senna’ with the family (it was my Mum’s Christmas present to my uncle). My mum and her brothers and sisters would watch Senna when they were younger as they were big motor racing fans, so this afternoon we all got together to watch it.
I personally knew nothing about Senna apart from his death but found myself quite engrossed and interested in the film, especially about the whole Prost + Senna rivalry and how Senna felt cheated and hard done by the FIA. It was a very emotional film though, especially when Senna won the Brazilian Grand Prix suffering from muscle spasms during his victory and the pain he suffered to lift up the trophy was an emotional scene. And of course the end was very emotional. He seemed like a very humble and nice character and he impacted millions, especially in his home of Brazil. It’s also interesting also how the film had such an impact on me, despite me knowing very little about him beforehand. A very well put together documentary overall, and highly recommended for anyone into motor racing or maybe not even interested at all.
