tops songs of two-thousand-and-eleven

  1. Call It What You Want - Foster The People
So this year I got a little bit obsessed with this band, saw them live went crazy and fell in love with their album. ‘Call It What You Want’ is my favourite off the album (tough decision) as it’s so catchy fun and I really like the message in the song. Listening to this on a summers day was bliss and automatically made me happier!
  2. Live Those Days Tonight - Friendly Fires
‘Pala’ was another favourite album of mine in 2011 and I found it extremely hard to pick a favourite song and would change my mind every week, but after seeing them live and looking back, ‘Live Those Days Tonight’ was my overall favourite as I think it reflects their sound and amazing music the best.
  3. Heart Skips A Beat - Olly Murs ft. Rizzle Kicks
I also fell in love with Rizzle Kicks at the end part of this year but this particular song, though they don’t feature in it much, gave Olly Murs a massive cool music boost with their beats echoing in the background of the song. Another summer favourite, I could sing a long to this all day. Not my typical taste to go for something so popular and high chart topping, but just shows Rizzle Kicks important influence on the track for me.
  4. Pumped Up Kicks - Foster The People
I was going to pick ‘Life On the Nickel’ for my second favourite Foster The People song but I think when looking back on 2011, Pumped Up Kicks needs to be on here as it was this very song that caught my attention on Foster The People and became a chillin’ summer classic. I also love how ironic the feel/sound of the song compared to the lyrics, displays Foster The People’s interesting nature.
  5. Belong- Washed Out
I fell in love with Washed Out’s whole sound. I love the summery feel, it makes me feel I’m floating in the sea somewhere foreign and warm, makes me automatically happier, so glad I found Washed Out.
  6. Down With The Trumpets - Rizzle Kicks
Another Rizzle Kicks song but this time one of their own. This song made them pretty big this year and it was the song that got my attention caught. As nearly all the other songs are in the list, it was a big summer hit. I absolutely love the lyrics in this song and it’s great that Rizzle Kicks are young and so similar to my age, I can totally understand what they are saying, especially in their mix song ‘I’m 17’ another 2011 favourite.
